Feeding and Swallowing

Due to an injury, disorder, or age, you may not even realize that eating and drinking are becoming harder and you are avoiding certain foods and drinks you used to love.  You may be coughing on food or liquids, getting a runny nose or teary eyes when you have food, or having belching or hiccuping.  If this sounds like you, you may have a swallowing disorder.

If your child only eats a couple different foods, your child may need feeding therapy to help improve their variety and thoughts on food.

About Me

I graduated from Emerson College with a BS in Communication Sciences & Disorders and George Washington University with a Masters of Speech & Language Pathology.  I started my career with a non-profit organization where I worked in both educational school settings and skilled nursing facilities.  I have worked with children ages 1-15 with language delays, articulation disorders, fluency disorders, social pragmatic disorders, and apraxia of speech.  With geriatric patients, I helped those with neurologic and dysphagia disorders. I also worked at a rehabilitation hospital treating pediatric and adult patients with neurological impairments caused by traumatic brain injuries or stroke.  In addition to working with various skilled nursing homes in the area I spent much of this past year at a local middle school working with children with autism, language delays, disfluency disorders, social pragmatic disorder, & articulation disorders.
